This historic farm sits within 165 acres of protected meadows and woodlands, complete with a world-renowned garden that blends seamlessly into the wild Welsh landscape. The Farm
Allt y bela sits within 165 acres of ancient hay meadow, woodland and a stream managed for conservation in close partnership with Natural Resources Wales. The SSSI designated land is grazed lightly and the wildflowers are left to flourish.

The Wider Area
Views across the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons open from the higher ground at Allt y bela. In spring, the woodland floor is carpeted with bluebells. In early summer, wild orchids fill the meadows. Wonderful Monmouthshire walks are available from the doorstep.

History
Allt y bela is a Medieval cruck-framed farmhouse built between 1420 and 1599, with the addition of a Renaissance tower created in the seventeenth century. It was lovingly restored by the Spitalfields Trust before being bought and further repaired and enhance by William Collinson and Arne Maynard in 2006.
Garden Tours
The five-acre garden at Allt y bela is a private garden, with full access for farmhouse guests. Cottage guests are welcome by appointment, and guided tours with head gardener Sam can be arranged before your arrival.
Cyanotype Workshop
Using sunlight, natural materials and traditional photographic techniques, you’ll create beautiful blue-toned prints that capture the textures, forms and details found within the gardens and grounds. A slow, creative experience celebrating nature, craft and the art of making by hand.
Birdwatching
Settle into the peaceful surroundings of Allt y bela and enjoy the rich birdlife of the Usk Valley, with birdsong filling the gardens and wildlife never far away. Look out for species such as robins, buzzards and red kites as you explore the landscape.
Flower Casting
Using gathered botanicals and traditional casting techniques, you’ll preserve the delicate shapes, textures and details of flowers and foliage to create unique, timeless pieces. A mindful, hands-on experience celebrating nature, craft and the beauty of organic forms.
