Bookings for both our Bed & Breakfast rooms and self-catering cottages can be made directly through our website. If you have any questions before booking, or would simply prefer to speak with someone directly, please feel very welcome to get in touch.

We generally operate a two-night minimum stay for our accommodation, though this can occasionally vary depending on the season. Please check our online booking calendar for specific availability.

Bed & Breakfast Rooms (The East Room & West Room):
Check-in is between 2pm and 4pm. Guests are usually welcomed in person by a member of our housekeeping team.

Self-Catering Cottages (Little Allt y bela & Cwrt y bela):
Check-in is from 4pm onwards via self check-in. Arrival information will be sent prior to your stay.

Departure:
Check-out for all accommodation is by 10am unless otherwise agreed in advance.

Our cottages are designed for flexible self check-in, so later arrivals are usually absolutely fine. For Bed & Breakfast stays, we kindly ask guests to arrive within the stated check-in window where possible, as the housekeeping team finishes later in the afternoon.

Yes — parking is available for all guests staying at Allt y bela. Arrival and parking information will be sent prior to your stay.

Due to our peaceful, rural location, travelling by car is highly recommended. If you are arriving by train, please ensure you book local taxis well in advance of your journey, as they can be difficult to arrange on the day.

Cancellation charges apply as follows:

– More than 28 days before arrival: full refund
– 28 days or fewer before arrival: non-refundable

If we are able to re-let the accommodation, or accommodate a change of dates, we may sometimes offer flexibility at our discretion, although this cannot be guaranteed. Please note: If we do agree to transfer your booking to a new date, those new dates will become strictly non-refundable.

Our East and West Rooms are located within the main farmhouse and offer a more hosted Bed & Breakfast stay, with breakfast served each morning in the house. Little Allt y bela and Cwrt y bela are self-catering cottages situated within the wider estate grounds, offering a quieter and more independent stay connected to the surrounding landscape. Both offer slightly different ways of experiencing the atmosphere and rhythm of Allt y bela.

Breakfast for Bed & Breakfast guests is generally served between 8am and 9am in the main house. If you have any dietary requirements, please let us know in advance and we will always do our best to accommodate them.

Breakfast is simple, seasonal and generous, with an emphasis on homemade and locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. Depending on the time of year, you may also find produce gathered from the gardens and surrounding landscape.

The East and West Rooms can be booked together for families travelling with older children who would prefer separate rooms. For younger children and infants, our cottages may also be suitable depending on the nature of your stay. Please feel free to contact us before booking if you would like guidance on which accommodation may suit you best.

Both cottages are fully self-catered and include kitchens, heating, Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, and outdoor space. You’ll also find a small selection of welcome provisions waiting for you on arrival. The cottages have been carefully restored with an emphasis on simplicity, warmth, and connection to the surrounding landscape.

Yes — all bed linen, towels, and essential toiletries are provided for your comfort, so there is no need to bring your own.

Yes — logs, kindling, and matches are provided for your stay. If you require additional logs during your visit, please just let us know.

Our cottages each have one bedroom and are therefore generally best suited to either:

– Two adults with an infant in a cot; or
– One parent travelling with one child.

Families with older children may find our B&B rooms more comfortable, particularly when booked together. Please note we do not provide highchairs or cots.

Yes — Wi-Fi is available throughout both cottages and the Bed & Breakfast rooms. Full details will be provided on arrival.

Mobile signal can vary across the valley depending on network and weather conditions. Wi-Fi calling is generally the most reliable option while staying here.

Yes — we provide outdoor fire pits and barbecues for our guests to enjoy. To help us carefully manage the historic gardens and surrounding farmland, and to prevent accidental scorch marks or fire risks, we kindly ask that you do not bring your own barbecues (including disposable ones). We provide all the necessary logs, kindling, and matches you will need for your stay.

Yes — well-behaved dogs are very welcome for an additional charge of £30 per stay.

Yes — we kindly ask that dogs are kept on leads at all times when outdoors. Allt y bela is part of a working rural landscape with nearby livestock, wildlife, and occasional farm vehicles moving through the estate.

Yes — guests are very welcome to enjoy the gardens, woodland, fields, streams, and surrounding landscape during their stay. There are many paths and quieter corners to explore throughout the estate.

Yes. The house and surrounding estate are actively lived in, worked, and carefully managed throughout the year. As a rural property, guests should expect changing weather, birdsong, grazing animals, occasional farm activity, and the wider rhythms of countryside life.

Yes — the surrounding landscape includes rare breed cattle and ponies grazing within the wider estate.

Allt y bela is located in Monmouthshire, Wales, within the Usk Valley and close to the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons. Our postcode is NP15 1EZ.

As a historic rural property, parts of Allt y bela include uneven ground, steps, natural pathways, and changing outdoor terrain which may not be suitable for all guests. Accessibility varies between accommodation types, so we would always encourage guests to contact us before booking if they would like to discuss specific access or mobility requirements in more detail.

At present, guests must not charge electric vehicles using domestic sockets or extension leads within the accommodation. We are happy to advise on nearby public charging facilities prior to your stay.

We would generally recommend:

– Sturdy outdoor footwear
– Waterproofs during wetter months
– Warm layers for evenings outdoors
– Walking boots if planning to explore the surrounding countryside
